The Alpha mini-camper from Spaceships is one of the cheapest vehicles you can book for a road trip through Australia. If you want to travel to Australia on a budget, this is the place for you! The Toyota Estima is very simple and has 4 seats. We recommend with max. 3 people to travel, even if the vehicle is approved for 4 people. The seat behind the driver's seat is very small, even if 4 people were theoretically allowed. There is an attachment option for child seats. Spaceships have a child seat (8-15 kg) or a booster seat (14-26 kg). Children up to the age of 7 must sit in a child seat.
This vehicle is particularly suitable for backpackers, as it protects the wallet and allows more budget for local expenses. Nevertheless, due to the age, one must of course clearly say that the vehicle can be assigned to the budget class and accordingly has visible signs of wear and tear in the interior and that the mileage is high. However, since the vehicle is relatively small and, based on experience, the Toyota Estimas can have a comparatively long service life, the Alpha is worth considering for bargain hunters.
The vehicle has a large double bed (1.40 m x 1.90 m) and with an awning on the trunk it offers an extension of 30% with the possibility to let a lot of fresh air into the car. There is also a small refrigerator (15L) and a 2 burner portable gas cooker. Like every vehicle in Spaceships, the vehicle has air conditioning that can only be used while driving.
If you are traveling with four people, you can rent a tent for two for AUD 60. For backpackers, this vehicle is certainly a suitable idea, since the cost sharing allows you to travel to Australia for little money and a rental is already possible from the age of 18.
The Alpha can also be an option for families on a very small budget.
Since the Alpha is older and more worn and needs a little more fuel than the Beta versions, we usually recommend the Beta versions of Spaceships.
